Shortlist revealed for Commercial Broker Awards 2021

Recognising excellence in the intermediary community, the NACFB is delighted to announce the shortlist for this year’s Commercial Broker Awards.

In addition to members of the NACFB team, eleven industry experts made up the judging panel, all chosen for their expertise and understanding of the sector.

The winners will be announced and presented with trophies at an awards ceremony which is being held on the afternoon of Wednesday 29th September at Edgbaston Cricket Ground – the day before Commercial Finance Expo 2021.

Commenting on the astounding number of worthy entries received, NACFB managing director, Norman Chambers, said: “The quality and quantity made both judging and determining the shortlist very difficult.”

Judging process

Each judge was assigned up to three categories and asked to choose their top three entries for each based on strict criteria. Brokers had to provide clear evidence of adding value to clients. In particular, the judges looked at where a broker had applied innovative structuring on a complex or difficult deal alongside taking into consideration the impact on the client’s business, the lender-broker dynamic, and the ability to get a deal over the line. The same criteria were given to Members who chose to submit an entry.

To determine the winners, runners-up and the highly commended, the judges’ selections will be combined with the votes from NACFB lender Patrons. Patron voting opens on Monday 19th July for two weeks. To ensure fairness, a maximum of five representatives from each Patron will be entitled to vote in each category. If more than five votes are cast by a Patron, only the first five will be counted.

The external judging panel included:

  • Ryan Fowler, Publishing Editor, Mortgage Introducer
  • Lee Tillcock, Editor, Moneyfacts Group Plc
  • Bob Lefroy, CEO & Group Editor, Business Money
  • David Newborough, Head of Audit and Business Services, Ashgates Corporate Services Ltd
  • Russ Lewis, Specialist Director, NACFB
  • Simon Goldie, Director of Advocacy, Finance & Leasing Association
  • Alex Waterman, Principal, Invoice Finance & Asset Based Lending, UK Finance
  • Alicia Pattihis, Partner, Philip Ross Solicitors
  • Robin Skuse, Editor, Broker World
