Training & Education

The NACFB is committed to providing Training and Education for Commercial Finance Brokers and over the years has developed a range of training days to cover all aspects of Commercial Finance. This has included Asset Finance, Factoring and Invoice Discounting, Marketing and Fraud training to name just a few. In addition our CPD programme continues and recording is now available on line.

We offer a new qualification to replace the Certificate in Commercial Mortgages, which has been written in conjunction with all the High Street banks. The Certificate in Business Banking and Conduct (CertBB&C) is the standard qualification for all our members and is run by The London Institute of Banking & Finance.

Commercial Finance Expo

The Commercial Finance Expo is the only show in the UK dedicated to the business finance community. Representatives from funders across the business finance arena will be exhibiting. This year the NACFB conference will be held during the Expo, welcoming speakers who can offer a keen insight into different parts of the industry..

findSMEfinance

FindSMEfinance lists sources of commercial finance for small businesses, including leasing and hire purchase arrangements, commercial mortgages, and invoice discounting and factoring. It will allow you to search by region or postcode, and will take you directly to the brokers who are best placed to help you find the funding you need.

Development Finance

The NACFB saw Development Finance disappear from the market completely during 2008, with one exception. We always had one lender in the market for a small amount of Residential Development in selected areas, it was a new relationship, but we never ran completely dry of funding.

In the intervening years from late 2009, we saw a trickle back into the market, that has not developed into a torrent, but as of today (August 2015), there is certainly much more available than before. There are some familiar names, but the NACFB has a number of providers of development finance. We have access to development funding for certain projects from the High Street as well as through our members from the likes of Close Brothers through Regentsmead, Helmsley and United Trust Bank and others in between.

Our membership may not have always nurtured these relationships, and funding for residential developments has always been part of our portfolio as a membership organisation. Of course we are used to large commercial developments, but as we have had the largest Buy to Let Brokers as members and access to large portfolio Landlord customers, we have had to service the requirement for residential development monies to fuel this market as well.

The risks are still out there to push the boundaries much more, it can be done, but location and property types play a large part. The demand for housing is significant.

More uncertainty from Europe and a wide range of perhaps more secure lending is out there for those looking for safe borrowing, which can be more appealing. But watch this space... we have seen increases in new facilities over the last three years, and we look forward to the prospect of further growth through the second half of 2015.
